    Mandarin Lesson 1

    My last name is Huang.Wǒ xìng Huáng.
    That gentleman's last name is Kim.Nàwèi xiānshēng xìng Jīn.
    His first name is Ming.Tāde míngzi jiào Míng.
    Mr. Lee's first name is John.Lǐ xiānshēngde míngzi jiào Yuēhàn.
    Mr. Lee is American / Australian / Canadian / British / Korean / Japanese / French / German / Italian.Lǐ xiānshēng shì Měiguórén / àozhōurén / Jiānádàrén / Yīngguórén / Hánguórén / Rìběnrén / Fàguórén / Déguórén / Yìdàlìrén.
    Mr. Lee does not live in America; Mr. Lee lives in China.Lǐ xiānshēng búzhù zài Měiguó, Lǐ xiānshēng zhù zài Zhōngguó.
    The teacher gave me a Chinese name.Laǒshī gěi wǒ qǔle yīgē zhōngwén míngzi.
    We picked a name for the puppy.Wǒmen gěi xiǎogǒu qǔ míngzi.
    His pronunciation of Chinese is very good.Tā shuō zhōngguóhuà, fāyīn hěn hǎo.
    The pronunciation of this character in Chinese is different from that in Japanese.Zhège zì, zhōngwén hé rìwén fāyīn bù yíyàng.
    Mr. Bai and Mr. Wu are about the same height.Bái xiānshēng hé Wú xiānshēng chàbuduō gāo.

    Mr. Yang has been teaching foreign students for ten years. He is an experienced teacher.Yáng xiānshēng jiào wàiguó xuéshēng shínián le, tā shì yǒu jīngyànde lǎoshī.
    Ming doesn't know how to play baseball. I teach him how to play.Míng búhuì dǎ bàngqiú, wǒ jiào tā dǎ bàngqiú.
    Mr. Chen teaches Miss Liu how to swim.Chén xiānshēng jiào Lǐ xiǎojiě yóuyǒng.
    I've already had my lunch.Wǒ yǐjīng chī guò wǔ fàn le.
    He already earned a Bachelor's degree by graduating from college last year.Tā qùnián dàxué bìyè, tā yǐjīng shì xuéshì le.
    During the class, the teacher and students are inside the classroom.Shàngkède shíhòu, lǎoshī hé xuéshēng dōu zài jiàoshìlitóu.
    My father often tells jokes during meal time.Wǒ bàba chángcháng zài chīfànde shíhòu shuō xiàohuà.
    You can have no more than one piece of candy.Nǐ zhǐ néng chī yíkuài táng, bùnéng duō chī.
    It is time for recess. You can take a break for up to ten minutes.Xiàkèle, nǐmen zhǐ néng xiūxí shífēn zhōng.
    There are ten words in this lesson that I haven't learned before.Zhèkè wǒ yǒu shíge méi xuéguòde shēngcí.
    There are too many new words in this lesson, and it is too difficult.Zhèkè shū shēngcí tài duō, tài nánle.
    Jianguo drew five trees.Jiànguó huàle wǔkē shù.
    This painting is beautiful.Zhèfú huà huà zhēn piāoliàng.
    The teacher asked me to act out an old man walking.Lǎoshī ràng wǒ biǎoyǎn lǎo xiānshēng zǒulù (zǒulùde yàngzi).
    Wenjie demonstrates how to brush one's teeth and wash one's face.Wénjié biǎoyǎn shuāyá xǐliǎnde dòngzuò.
    Our teacher, Mr. Qiu, told stories in Chinese, and all of us understood.Zhāng lǎoshī yòng Zhōngguóhuà shuō gùshì, wǒmen dōu dǒng.
    This teacher has a good teaching method so the students are learning quickly.Zhèwèi lǎoshī jiàoxuéfǎ hǎo, xuéshēng dōu jìnbù kuài.
    That teacher doesn't have a good teaching method so the students all stopped coming to class.Nàwèi lǎoshī jiàoxuéfǎ bù hǎo, xuéshēng dōu bùlái le.
    This game is very interesting.Zhège yóuxì hěn yǒu yìsi.
    That television show is very interesting.Nàge diànshì jiémù hěn yǒu yìsi.
    I like to play tennis / golf / basketball / table tennis / badminton / soccer.Wǒ xǐhuān dǎ wǎngqiú.
    Miss Feng likes to swim.Zhāng xiǎojiě xǐhuān yóuyǒng.
    Mr. Gao rented a house.Gāo xiānshēng zūle yījiān fāngzi.
    I would like to rent a big house.Wǒ xiǎng zū yījiān dà fāngzi.
    My school is located on Nanjing East Road.Wǒde xuéxiào zài Nánjīng Dōnglù.
    This is a Chinese school.Zhè shì yīsuǒ zhōngwén xuéxiào.
    There's some beautiful scenery in our neighborhood.Zài wǒmen fùjìn dìfāng yǒu yīxiē měilì jǐngsè.
    There is a good library in the vicinity.Fùjìn yǒu yīsuǒ hǎo tǔshūguǎn.
    Yesterday afternoon I was looking for a place to live nearby the school.Zuótiān xiàwǔ, wǒ zài xúexiào fùjìn zhǎo fāngzi.
    He has been looking for a place to live since last week.Tā cóng shàngge lǐbài jiù zài zhǎo fāngzi le.
    This apartment is very beautiful.Zhè dòng gōngyù hěn piāoliàng.
    My apartment is right on this street.Wǒ zhù de gōngyù jiù zài zhè tiáo jiē shàng.
